I thought I might be over my Cheerios kick after preparing for this fun 1st birthday party below, but I'm not. I even shocked myself when I asked my husband after he went to the store, "Did you get more Cheerios?" If anyone knows anyone at General Mills, tell them you found their new spokesperson.
.
They are tasty AND make for a cute party........
Favors were individual boxes of Cheerios in cute yellow bowls from Target. I wrapped them up in cellophane and created little "just add milk" tags and set by each place setting at the craft table.
.
Crafts/games were bowls of Cheerios to make necklaces and bracelets, Pin The O on the box game, baggies full of Cheerios to see how many they could stuff in their mouth in a timed race and a relay race to see which team could fill their box of Cheerios to the top first, one spoonful at a time. (Similar to the old egg in the spoon relay race.)
Tables were kept simple with white linens, red plates (The Dollar Tree), cereal boxes and milk containers, cylinder vases lined in white paper for "milk" and filled with Cheerios and large cork O's I cut out of a roll of cork shelf liner.
.
Clearly these two detail shots with the gorgeous lighting and the great cake shot were by Julie. Love them.
Here you can see the clear shower curtain in the background. I ended up creating a message "wall" for guests to write a note for the birthday boy to be kept in a keepsake album I gave his mom after the party.
.
A contender for my favorite thing was the napkin treatment of yellow ribbon with a spoonful of tiny pictures of the birthday boy punch out with a circle punch and affixed to the spoons with foam mounting squares.
But my favorite thing.....the cake table area. I lined the simple white linen with the same red packing tape I used on the mailed invitations. I hung this yellow curtain on removable 3M wall mounting hooks and blew up photos of the birthday boy's 1st year to hang from ribbon. You'd never know there was a milk cooler and elementary school posters behind there!
.
And because Julie took more great pics of the cake from The Cakery and my vintage pendant necklace is so cool (te he), more cake detail pics.
Finally, it wouldn't be standard ops if I didn't forget to take a few detail shots! This time it was pictures of the drink cup labels, Pin the O on the box of Cheerios game or the Pizza signage that matched the invitations. I hope you have really good imaginations!
