Reader Request: Christening

I thought I'd start a feature here on Reader Requests. I get a lot of emails asking for ideas and resources for certain types of parties. I'm happy to share ideas, but also know that many of you out there have wonderful ideas and links to share.

So.......

Right now I have a blog reader asking for great inspirations for a Baby's Christening. Since you all like to peruse parties, too, if any of you have seen something online that will fit this bill, please share. You can leave a comment here with a link! Ye Olde Suggstion Box as it were. As I'm able to, I'll repost some of my faves.

With so many great resources online it's hard to keep up with everyone, so I think this will be a fun way to swap ideas.

Help a sistah help another sistah out, won't you? : )

This is from Bakerella. Loved this. It's only for cupcakes, but pink and brown is to die for.

Hi There, My daughter had a "Life is Sweet" themed naming ceremony. We held it at a local restaraunt. All of the invitations, table numbers, escortcards, etc said "Life is Sweet" and then the center of the room featured a HUGE candy buffet. It was all pink and brown because it was 2007....Anyhow, in the center of the candy buffet was an empty jar to fill with "sweet blessings" for our baby girl. We asked guests to write on the back of their escort cards little thoughts, prayers, notes for our baby and then we could read them at her bat mitzvah. This would work equally well for someone celebrating a a Baptism, etc--just open at First Communion. Everyone loved it and she could use your sweets party for lots of great inspiration!

For my son's First Communion last year I used the sand dollar as my inspiration. Cream linens with a sand runner small vases of white and cream buds and lots of shells. I framed the "legend of the Sand Dollar" and placed it on the table too. I REALLY wanted more flowers but my son gave me strict instructions for it not to be 'too girly'
